Iphone 11

The iPhone 11 has got a dual-lens camera array. The extra lens is an upgrade on the iPhone XR’s single camera, but the Pro and Pro Max devices have a total of three lenses.

The new secondary sensor is a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle snapper, which can capture much wider shots thanks to the 120-degree lens. During the demo, Apple showed that you could easily switch between the two with the tap of a soft-key, and you can shoot video in wide-angle too.

Another new camera feature is slow-motion selfies, or ‘slopes’, as Apple is calling them. This uses the updated 12-megapixel True Depth camera on the front to snap selfies that move. It sounds slightly gimmicky, but it has the potential to be another seriously popular feature like Animoji.

Another new camera feature is a dedicated NightMode for shooting shots in low-light situations.

The design of the iPhone 11’s camera module has proven to be controversial, but we’re happy that Apple has introduced a secondary sensor to the cheaper model.

  • Apple’s new Night mode produces amazing results in very low light.
  • The extended dynamic range in video and cinematic stabilization produce movie-like results.
  • Thanks to its A13 Bionic processor, the iPhone 11 Pro is the fastest phone you can buy.
  • At about 10.5 hours of battery life, the iPhone 11 Pro offers good endurance, but the iPhone 11 Pro Max lasts nearly 12 hours on a charge.
  • The fast charger in the box works pretty well, getting you to 55% in 30 minutes.
  • We wish Apple included more storage than just 64GB; you may want to go for a higher capacity.
  • The lack of 5G connectivity is a bummer but it will be at least a year until there’s more widespread coverage
